Nevşehir Tourism

Cappadocia region, which means 'Land of Beautiful Horses' in the Persian language, is a vast region extending towards Toros Mountains in south, Aksaray in west, Malatya in east, and Northern Black Sea shores in north. Today, the region named Cappadocia indicates the area where Nevşehir, Aksaray, Niğde, Kırşehir and Kayseri provinces are located. The region named Core Cappadocia where the best chimney rock formations can be found includes Uçhisar, Göreme, Avanos, Ürgüp, Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı, Ihlara and surroundings.

According to the 2018 official statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism;

  • Nevşehir province has a total of 416 accommodation facilities, 12,118 rooms and 26,797 beds. Nevşehir is in the top 10 among the provinces in Turkey in terms of the number of beds existing.
  • As of 2019, there are 240 agencies in the region. 
  • A total of 1,776,183 tourists came to the region in 2018, with a total of 3,1 million overnights.
  • The Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli museum located in the region is the 4th most visited museum in Turkey with a number of 443,000 visitors.
  • 3 of the 10 most visited ruins in Turkey are located within the provincial borders of Nevşehir. These ruins are set out below. Göreme Ruins (1,113,409 - Ranking: 3) Kaymaklı Underground City (553,850 - Ranking: 5) Derinkuyu Underground City (378,834 - Ranking: 7)

Since the Cappadocia region is on the list of Culture and Tourism Conservation and Development Region, it benefits from the 5th region incentives in hotel investments instead of the 4th region within the framework of the Investment Incentive System.
